Products - Manhole Covers

We at Gordons carry a large range of Manhole covers and frames from the traditional galvanised steel range to ductile iron.

 

Steel access covers can be broken down into 3 main categories, solid tops, recessed tray for screed and recessed for block paviors. Each type of product is subject to 12 standard sizes with 3 different loadings.

 

The FACTA (fabricated access covers trade association) recommended loadings for steel access covers are as follows:

 

Class A
Pedestrian only

 

Class AA

Areas with vehicular traffic up to 5 tonnes gross laden vehicle weight 1.5 tonnes slow moving wheel load

 

Class AAA

Areas with vehicular traffic up to – 10 tonnes gross ladenvehicle weight

2.5 tonnes slow moving wheel load

 

Class B

Areas with vehicular traffic up to – 44 tonnes gross laden vehicle weight 5 tonnes slow moving wheel load

 

Class FL 
Areas with abnormal loads up to – 11.5 tonnes slow moving wheel load  Also suitable for forklift traffic areas up to 5 tonnes wheel load.
